Greed is Good

As of now there is no incentive for Exxonmobil to do anything else but reap record profits. And the American consumer has no choice in the matter. The  proof being that Exxonmobil is the most profitable company in the History of The United States of America. In 1911, Standard Oil was broken up because it was abusing it’s power and dominance in the marketplace. Now almost 100 years later, we are back to the same scenario. The time has come for ExxonMobil to once again be broken up in the interest of The American People.  We don’t think it’s right for any corporation, including ExxonMobil to control markets so thoroughly that it can set prices and determine profits irrespective of free market forces. Our Government has the power and authority to take action when corporations no longer compete in a free market environment. Years ago, the phone company was such a monopoly. Our government, broke up AT&T, and today we have low cost long distance phone service due to the competition resulting from such a breakup. And when Enron executives bilked hundreds of millions of dollars by illegal means, our government acting on behalf of the people, indicted those executives and sentenced them to prison. Now almost 100 years since our government broke up Standard Oil, it has become very clear, that the immediate and only real solution to the price gouging by ExxonMobil is that it once again must be broken up to allow free market forces to return equilibrium to the marketplace
