The FTC, working for you- NOT!

The Federal Trade Commission ( FTC) is supposed to lookout for the public’s interest when it comes to corporate abuse of free markets. Unfortunately, for the past several years, it appears that the FTC has been looking out for the interest’s of the corporations over those of the American People. When was the last time that the FTC actually denied a merger? Exactly. Recently, FTC chairman Deborah Platt Majoras testified that the rising price of gasoline was not due to reduced competition! It is clear now that the FTC is not going to do anything on their own about rising oil company profits, but in fact is part of the problem. But what do you expect, when the majority of the FTC commissioners are former corporate attorneys- one being former counsel to General Motors! At Breakupexxonmobil.com, part of our strategy is to keep pressure on the FTC to once again represent, “The American People”.
